E is for Edifcation

Fifth installment of the A-Z series. E is for Edification.

Edification is a great term because it means a couple of things. First, it talks about spiritual instruction. Moral education. The other definition talks about lifting someone up. Public Relations is in essence edification. Talking things up. Edifying yourself in your inter-cranial conversations and edifying those who mean a lot to you is a real benefit and great technique for sharing positive energy and living a more satisfying life.

If you notice, many people break the ice with a complaint. It usually is about a struggle they are facing or a comment about some victim mentality story. Then you meet that rare gem that has something positive to say. It isn’t that they are only focusing on the good things with a blind-side to the dark side of life. They are just a person that chooses to uplift instead of tear down.

Edification of your spouse or significant other greatly improves a relationship. Let your children, spouse or others you care about catch you saying nice things about them “behind their back”. It is a great thing to do to let someone know how loved and supported they are and this strengthens the bonds of a relationship.

Edify yourself in your mind. Focus on strengths and accomplishments, most importantly when feeling self doubt or those days when things are just tough. Remind yourself what you do well so you can be uplifted and ready to face the next challenge life throws at you. Edification, such a great self-empowerment tool!

Edify your community, your workplace, your school whatever group you are a part of this is a strong career building move. The seeds of positive energy planted in the world tend to come back ten fold. Practice edifying today!
