Listing the entire definition was intentional. Take some time to read them and take the definitions in mindfully. Many people leave little to no time in their schedules for inspiration. Taking deep breaths allowing the air and the inspiration to come into oneself and to allow actions and ideas to flow out into the world.

Inspiration is coy. You must make time for her. She won’t come to you in a crowded noisy office or with kids bantering for your attention. You must pay attention to her and ask her to come to you and then leave your mind open.

Some say prayer, some say meditation. A relaxing drive in open spaces, a soothing walk at the park. These are places where inspiration is likely to appear. She is known to prefer water and comes when her subject is in the shower or warm bath. Possibly watching a stream, river, lake, ocean, waterfall all of these watery places are great for finding inspiration.

Inspiration shows us the answers, helps us to learn, create and grow as individuals. Sometimes when wanting to solve a particular conundrum that life has tossed one’s way a person can choose to focus on a particular quote or spiritual text in a focused meditation.

Each day I do this and then I ask what to write about that day and it usually comes to me fairly quickly. However being inspired is like working out. It may not come easy at first. It takes practice and opportunity. Ones ability to be inspired grows over time like a muscle it becomes stronger. It cannot be cheated. You must to the time to have the reward.

However I invite you to at least once a day take deep breaths in a place where you feel most comfortable and ask what it is you need to know. Then simply be still and listen with mind, body and spirit to hear what comes to you. It is a great practice to get into.

Allow yourself the time to be alone without any communication devices, just silence, and listen to what it has to tell you. Because you are worth it.
